Bret Moldenhauer is a NCCAOM board certified (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine), TN licensed acupuncturist and the first in the state to be granted full hospital privileges with Chattanooga's Erlanger Health System. A native of St. Petersburg, Florida, Bret received his Master's in Traditional Chinese Medicine from the Florida Institute of Chinese Medicine. Bret also did a post-graduate fellowship at the Zhejiang Medical University in Hangzhou, China.

A veteran of the United States Army, Bret was assigned to the world class military athletic program fighting on the All Army, Armed Forces and World Military Taekwondo Teams. Bret also was selected for the United States Olympic Training Center Taekwondo Team in Colorado Springs.

Building on his experience and injuries as a world class athlete turned acupuncturist, Bret founded the Institute for Acupuncture & Wellness (IAW) in 2002 with the goal of providing world class acupuncture to all athletes, from weekend warriors to collegiate, world class and Olympic-level athletes.

IAW was selected to provide an academic learning facility to second and third year residents of UTC College of Medicine for clinical acupuncture rounds in complementary and alternative medicine.

IAW has grown into a world class acupuncture model, allowing Bret the distinct honor of assisting Olympic track and field athletes including Dee Dee Trotter, Lolo Jones, and Tyson Gay. Bret was selected to join Team Trotter at the 2012 London Olympics and was the first acupuncturist to accompany the USA Track and Field team to the 2012 Maccabiah World Games in Israel.

In addition to his Olympic experience, Bret's experience includes work with World Class athletes, Professional athletes (members of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brooke Pancake), collegiate athletes (Vanderbilt, UTC, LSU, Central Florida) and local athletes in the Chattanooga and surrounding areas.

While Bret treats a multitude of conditions, he specialize in the use of Acupuncture Sports Medicine and Natural Pain Management. Bret is affililated with the Anesthesiology Department of Erlanger. His private practice is located in the Erlanger North Annex building, connected to Erlanger North main campus, conveniently located off of Hwy 27 and Morrison Springs Road and affiliated with the UT Erlanger Institute for Sports and Health which includes Dr.Bill Moore Smith and Summit Physical Therapy.
